The “Fool’s Insight” Spread

This spread uses the Fool card from a second deck as a kind of impartial observer of the situation described in the reading. It represents an archetypal Inner Fool “holding up a mirror” ( the cards in the spread) to reflect the querent’s wisdom or folly in the matter at hand. The idea for the “fool’s mirror” came from Cherry Gilchrist’s fine Tarot de Marseille book Tarot Triumphs, but I’m using it differently here. This is one of my few spreads that employs a formal “base card” drawn from the bottom of the deck to show hidden obstacles, while the quintessence is intended to indicate fortunate breaks that may occur.
