I occasionally get a friendly nudge from people who think I should monetize my blog with ads (probably because they want to be featured). So i did a little investigating and found this interesting article that makes avoiding ads in favor of other monetizing options look like the sensible thing to do.

Offering personally-recommended or self-created products or services (in my case reading consultation) seems to be the best way to go.. Since this blog is above all a platform for sharing ideas, it’s not positioned as a major money-maker. The three bucks a month WordPress gets isn’t going to break me.
