What Happened to Glenn? – A “World of Hurt” Missing Person Reading

UPDATE: On March 15, 2025, the body of Glenn Chranz was found in a wooded area roughly two miles due North of the Manchester, NH medical facility where Chranz was last seen alive. Police believe it had been covered in snow (see my “frozen to death” theory in the original text) and thawing conditions exposed it.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Since this is a topical reading about an ongoing investigation that could “break” at any time, I decided to make a double post today so I can “get my oar in the water” before that happens.

On January 28, 2025, 65-year-old Glenn Chrzan walked away from a Manchester NH medical facility and hasn’t been seen since. He is known to have multiple health issues. I performed my “World of Hurt” missing-person routine to explore his possible whereabouts and condition. (The spread is linked below.)

For this reading I chose the Kings as the “Significator” pool, and the first one to appear in the Significator column was the King (Thoth Knight) of Swords. It landed in the “Intentional Absence” row, suggesting that his disappearance was self-willed and probably spontaneous.

The position of the Significator implies that he was intent on escaping something, and this is reinforced by the image of the charging Knight. There was no mention in the news article of him being mentally challenged, so the question becomes whether he had a personal reason for wanting to vanish; perhaps he received a depressing diagnosis from his doctors and was blindly “running away” from it with no thought for where he was headed. His physical appearance and condition at the time he went missing do not suggest that he would have been a target of abduction.

The middle card is intended to show whether the missing person is still alive at the time of the reading. As shown in the attached table, the 10 of Cups leans toward “Yes,” although the passage of time and the extreme winter weather conditions in New Hampshire at the moment begin to make that seem less likely if he is not found soon.

The last card on the right proposes a “timing window” for his recovery, as well as the condition in which he might be found. The suit of Cups generally indicates a month or more (it has already been almost three weeks since his disappearance), and the 7 of Cups is a grim harbinger of his present state. As always, Cups represent water, and when they appear in this type of reading there is a chance that the individual has drowned and is presently submerged (however, in New Hampshire right now everything except the ocean is almost certainly frozen over). As far as the direction in which he went, although he initially walked North the element of Water ultimately shows West.

A final optional step (not shown in the photo) is to calculate a “numerological essence” card from the values of the three cards in the spread. This is always a Major Arcanum or trump, and it provides a “big-picture” backdrop against which the narrative plays out. In my personal method, I include the court cards even though they are unnumbered, giving them 11 through 14, since I believe all the cards on the table should be included in the calculation.

Kings are 14, so here the math is 14+10+7=31. There are three ways to reduce this total to a number that falls within the range of the trump-card series:

Most common is “Theosophical addition,” which involves summing the two digits, here yielding 4, or the Emperor. Since this does not seem to convey the status of a person who is “out in the cold,” one of the other ways would be a better choice.

The least-used approach (according to my experience) is to subtract 22 from the total, in this case resulting in 9, or the Hermit, which is getting closer to the truth of the matter; if he is in fact still alive (or even if he isn’t), he is isolated somewhere.

The last form of reduction – and the one I favor – is “casting out nines” or subtracting increments of nine. In this instance I must remove 18 from 31 to come within range, which gives me 13, or Death. This is another Water card, and it is very much in tune with the 7 of Cups since both cards correspond to the astrological sign of Scorpio. (Note that a further reduction by 9 produces 4, and I’ve already dismissed the Emperor as unlikely.) This is the sign of insidious deeds and hidden matters, so I think it means concealment with death looming large in the equation.

In summary, it seems improbable that someone who is not dressed for the conditions (as surveillance photos of Chrzan show) could survive outdoors in the wintry climate of the last couple of weeks unless he somehow managed to find a warm place to hole up. But he would still need food and water, which may not be obtainable without him being observed and thus found. The most logical conclusion here would be “frozen to death” in a secluded location (perhaps West of where he was last seen) rather than starvation.
