“Step Lively”- A General Health Reading

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I just created this new health-related spread and decided to test it on my own situation. (It would work just as well for any other situational-awareness scenario.) None of the cards came up inverted, although I didn’t intentionally suppress reversed orientation.

The court cards in the suit of Wands suggest a sprightly constitution, and I have three of the four among the five randomly-pulled cards here. The Thoth Knight (RWS King) can be vulnerable to high blood-pressure, but it’s not present in this spread, nor am I susceptible to that condition. The Prince of Wands can be accident-prone due to his rashness while the Princess might suffer from self-induced anxiety or frustration. The Queen is more likely to dish out aggravation than experience it.

The Princess of Wands in the “Current Conditions” position is full of vim and vigor, which is surprisingly accurate considering my advanced age. I don’t suffer much from debilitating fatigue or weakness.

The Queen of Wands in the “Reinforcement” position is intended to show that which supports my overall well-being. I have an exercise routine that I like to perform daily, and it keeps me fit (but I sometimes arbitrarily skip it for no good reason). As one might expect from a Queen, it’s not an overly strenuous regimen (treadmill and upper-body-strength workout), but the outcome has been encouraging from a muscle-building standpoint. (Old guys can lose muscle mass rapidly and even geezers like me don’t want to look or feel wimpy).

The 6 of Cups (“Pleasure”) in the “Resistance” (or what works against me) position implies a certain vulnerability to laziness and dietary indiscretion. (I seldom drink alcohol now, so it’s not that.)

The Prince of Wands in the position of “Reconcilation” between the two conflicting inputs recommends stepping up the Queen’s pace just a little and overcoming the comfortable inertia of the 6 of Cups. (I don’t like the look of that sharp-beaked wand in his right hand.)

The Ace of Disks in the “Short-Term Implications” position promises a physically robust near-term future as long as I stick with my plan.

The “numerical essence” card in the “Long-Range Outlook” position is the Chariot (11+13+6+12+1=43; 4+3=7), which I usually read as “movement toward a goal.” As a generally fortunate card for “triumph in practical matters,” it bodes well for the long run as long as I keep moving.

If I were to include Elemental Dignities in the form of Cards #1 through #3; Cards #2 through #4; and Cards #3 through #5 (leaving out the calculated “Essence” card), the Queen of Wands (Card #2) would be weakened by the mutually hostile Fire and Water cards on either side of it; the 6 of Cups (Card #3) would be strengthened by the two adjacent Fire cards that are friendly to one another by both element and rank; and the Prince of Wands (Card #4) would also be strengthened by the mutually agreeable Water and Earth cards abutting it. (Note that the element of the middle or “principal” card in relation to those of the two “modifiers” does not count in the analysis.)

This is telling me that the 6 of Cups might outrank the Queen of Wands in terms of potency (I’ll have a triple helping of Oreos, please), but the Prince of Wands would put things back on track by prodding me away from the cookie jar, and the Ace of Disks displays “muscle” (although it’s not the one Crowley was contemplating in this card).

Summary: I see nothing to be concerned about in this reading, unless its the self-indulgence of the 6 of Cups. But the Wands court is going to “pile on” and keep it in line. Elementally, the four cooperative Fire and Earth cards dominate the two Water cards, but only the unhelpful stance of the 6 of Cups is likely to be affected; the Chariot is above it all and will just “drive on” toward its destination.
